TANREN WORKSHOP – OCTOBER 2023

Join us for our next Online Workshop…

TANREN:

Tanren (鍛錬 / “forging”) signifies the gradual and meticulous process of forging metal through repeated strikes, used in a martial arts meaning the fortification of the whole self, body and mind. Many traditional Japanese arts include Tanren practices as foundational practices before the training begins, or as an initiation to the art itself. These practices not only prepare the beginner for the rigours of their chosen art, but encompass deeper principles with which underpin the art. Each art has its own specific focus and sequence (generally a closely guarded secret) but all include breathwork and movement exercises that seek to release, condition, stretch, and strengthen the body/mind.

An ‘Online’ and ‘In Person’ opportunity to explore the link between the Aiki-Ken Suburi and the Foundation Training protocol.
