𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗞𝗔𝗡𝗧𝗔𝗭𝗔?

Shikantaza means ‘just sitting’.

No goal. No technique to perfect.

We aim to release all mental postures and stop resisting our current experience. Sensations, feelings, thoughts arise — we let them be exactly as they are.

When restlessness or distraction comes up, we don’t fight it. As in Aikido, we notice it, and without resistance, simply let it be.

This is an invitation to simply sit with your-self.

𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗷𝗼𝗶𝗻:

𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱 — Let your household know you’ll be practising so you can sit undisturbed.

𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 — Make sure your space is neither too hot nor too cold.

𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 — Wear loose, comfortable clothing for ease of movement.

𝗗𝘂𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 — 30 minutes (20 minutes sitting). The room will be open early – please don’t join late. If you need to leave early, just leave.
